Studio Museum in Harlem Education Workshops

Who: Christopher Myers (artist), Studio Museum in Harlem
When: Summer 2025
Where: Studio Museum in Harlem, New York

Project management and creative direction for the Studio Museum in Harlem’s newly reopened Education Workshops. The site-specific installation, Harlem is a Myth, depicts an intergenerational community of mythic beings, drawing from iconic moments in Harlem’s history. The work shifts between 2D and 3D: cut aluminum forms, hand-painted with enamel, are mounted a few inches off the wall to create depth and movement.

For this project, I worked from the artist’s early concepts, translating pencil drawings into watertight DXF files for fabrication, painting, and installation — all coordinated to museum specifications and schedule.

Scope of work included project management, budgeting, vendor sourcing and management, layouts/mock ups, artist–institution liaison, transportation, and installation oversight.
