THE MOON,THE EARTH,AND US AT NUIT BLANCHE
Who: Oliver Jeffers (artist), Nuit Blanche, The City of Toronto
When: October 5 - 13, 2024
Where: Humber Lakeshore Campus, Toronto
Project Manager for the second iteration of The Moon, the Earth and Us, a monumental installation by Oliver Jeffers first iterated on New York’s High Line. The Moon, The Earth and Us was on view as part of Nuit Blanche Toronto, a free all-night celebration of contemporary art that transforms the city’s public spaces into extraordinary landscapes and animates cultural sites throughout the city. The 2024 theme was Bridging Distance, inviting audiences to explore ways in which they experience and perceive distance. Located at Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus, the project features two large sculptures modeled after the Moon and the Earth, in a scale that accurately depicts their true size and distance from one another. The installation presents the public with an experience normally reserved for astronauts – in which our home planet can be considered from the distance of the Moon.
